So, this morning when I was driving to work I approached a Peugeot parked at the side of the road with the boot open. Now, you're probably thinking this doesn't sound very interesting, but heck, wait a moment, it is.
The man that was clearly the owner of the car was walking towards the open boot with an empty glass milk bottle in his hand.
I thought that in itself was a bit random but as I came closer to the car I took a nosey look into the boot and there were loads of crates of milk bottles, some empty, some full...and some orange juice! So, what did I stumble upon? I have surmised that it could be one of the following:-
- An underground secret milk society formed from residents of housing estates, keen to avoid recession hiked milk prices, producing their own milk, using their own cows.
- An employed by a dairy milk man who decided to sell milk 'on the cheap' to local people.
- A serial killing murderer who is slowly poisoning certain parts of Leeds (I add, this was a particularly grotty area with rather undesirable road surfaces) for pleasure and culling purposes.
- A nutter who follows the *actual* milk man and steals the milk which is put on doorsteps.
- An actual bona fide milk man who is very adverse to cold weather (even though it was mild this morning) that uses his own car to deliver legit milk.
- The milk float broke down, hence the car being used.
I'm not too sure what the answer is myself. I hope this doesn't spell the end to the very iconic milk float. We used to get milk delivered, semi skimmed red and silver topped to be precise. However, the milk man was a bit creepy.
He used to come every Friday and collect his money for the week and mum used to always make us go to the door...hmmm maybe there was a reason for that (insert gag about one of us being the milk man's child and getting quality time with him)
I don't recall ever seeing someone hitching a ride on a milk float after a heavy night out though, as is always implied on television. Or in fact someone stealing milk.
I still need to write about my weekend but I'll save that as I'm at work and already in super slacker mode as it is.
Until laterz
