A Musical Interlude....

I absolutely love music. I love how I can be in a bad mood or really happy and the music I listen to will always enhance my mood. My family is really musical and music always plays a massive part in our lives.

My little bro (not so little at 18) is currently on a music scholarship at Harrow school playing piano, organ and singing amongst other stuff, my other little bro (again not so little at 23) records his own music and was in an acemazing band. And most importantly, I passed my grade one clarinet. ;)

When we were growing up my mum and dad used to fill our ears with the latest craze or the more discerning taste, from the Beatles to George Michael and classical pieces like Vivaldi, Four Seasons.

There was obviously the terrible stuff, more particularly Chris De Burgh and Dina Caroll at which point I'd always plug myself into my walkman (in the back of the car) and listen to my Just William books *saddo alert*. But whenever I hear that kind of thing now, it reminds me of them which is cool.

Skip to the later years and my dancing nights out in the cool spots of Middlesbrough (yes, there are *some*, usually very dark and soaked in vomit), I can still smell it but it was ace. I will never forget smerphf and the group boogeying on down to Stone Roses and doing signature moves to RATM. Great times.

Anyway, I decided to do a virtual various tape/you tube extravaganza to inform you of my current favs and I might slip some old classics in there if you're lucky.

I love make various cds for my friends (and my friends make great various cds for me). I like them to have a little snippet of what I like. I think it really shows you what a person is like by their music tastes, is it bad of me to judge people like that? It's a really cool way of trying out different genres too. You might not love a whole album but there'll probably be something of that 'sound' you enjoy.

So:-

(not new but I saw them a few weeks ago and I like this one and the video is cool)..

(my brother's friend's band - I personally think they're really good, even if I'm a bit biased)

I take back everything I once said about Lady Gaga, well not everything but I am rather partial to this song, funny how you like something after millions of listens even if I didn't like it last year. Also she's supporting TT when I see them, awesome!

There seems to be a lot of female singers.....

Lovefoxx is cutest lead singer eva! Unfortunately the video doesn't really show off her funky moves.

I have to say I'm liking the come back, even if they are all in their 40s now. My sister went to see them live in Guildford (that's how long ago it was), in fact I think she was wearing her NafNaf jacket at the time...

Because I don't think I'm ever going to get tired of this song. Ever.

We went to see Watchmen in March, the soundtrack is ace. I might go so far as to say, better than the film. Anyway, this is one of the songs in the film, although this has appeared in loads of ace films and never fails to sound cool.

I could actually go on for hours but this page might take several days to load.

I shall be back with my update for March/April madness.

Charlotte,

There is absolutely nothing wrong with judging people by their taste in music*. In fact, it saves a shed load of time and you can move on to more important things.

Regards,
Martin

*Most of the time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that. Although sometimes I listen to some *really* bad stuff, and maybe, on that one day someone decides to judge me. The shame would be immense.

That's why I make sure my listening choices are impeccable.
